Them there magnetic cleaners/traps what that you stick in your central heating pipework.
Do they have cleanable bits inside as a rule or do some have filters that need replacing?
Thinking of fitting one after a clogged up diverter valve caused my sis to end up with a big bill. She's got one now , this would be for my system.
Any reason I can't get a used one, understand that O rings might need replacing but other than that would I be golden?

They're not THAT expensive brand new!
When my youngest bought his house one was already fitted - Magnaclean 2 - & the amount of crap inside it was astonishing.
Dead easy to service.

Lots of youtubes for it too.

Im wiped out from fixing Duchess up, renewing 2 car insurance policies, house insurance and car tax plus bloody Xmas anorl.
New £80 ish s/h, half that. If they are just an inanimate lump then why not sez eye.:p

Yes they are good and do work some use just a magnet and some have magnets and filters strainers, if you can get one with both that would be best, you fit them to the boiler return pipe you wont find rust particles inside when you clean them it will be black sludge ( iron oxides)
check how they fit to the pipe work as some will fit with just cutting out a small section of straight pipe and other fit to offset pipe work

Can you not fit one to Duchess to solve the sunroof plumbing issue?

Yeah, Magnaclean is best. In my opinion, most of the cleaning is completed by flushing and refilling.
Some cleaning products are slightly acidic and there might be some truth in old systems being held together by scale.
So always flush it two or three times, refill, test everything works then put in corrosion inhibitor. You can also get 247 emergency plumbing services for more suggestions.
