Stood admiring the Landy and noticed these two plugs sat there. One male on female. Male one looks like a lighting plug.

too dark or wet to crawl under yet. But any guesses? I am assuming related to tow bar electrics

I have no idea what they could be, you have given no information and without pictures, your thread is worthless ;) :p:p:p:p

Not trying to be nasty, but all you've said is "I saw something, I don't know what it is. Do you know?"

Not really much to go on.

Well there was a picture when I posted.
I’ll try again.

So to be super clear as some of the description was missing too.

these plugs can be seen through the gap between top of rear cross member and bottom of rear door.

one is very similar to the sort of plug seen on the loom where a side light or indicator connects.

the other seems to be the opposite gender.

it’s just above and to the left of towbar 7pin plug. So I assume it’s the electrics for that unplugged. But cannot be sure.

Okay by which point I’ll have had to have gone underneath anyway.

Yes most likely, but as some defenders do have spare plugs in various locations and of course you dont know what the previous owner has done, extra fuel tank sender, extra reverse lights, parking sensors etc etc

To be fair, it's tricky to help folk out if the info is limited. It's best to say the model, engine etc of your Landy, the year helps anorl.
I've gone to the trouble of looking at your profile page, but it says 'Looking' for your current land rover. On the balance of probabilities I'm going to guess you have a diesel. Petrol models had a fuel pump at the back, the connector is round, so could be the one on the right of your picture. I can't make your out! Your connector on the left does look like an indicator or side repeater socket.

okay I have updated my profile thanks for the heads up its a 1995MY 300tdi Defender 90 (county).

I seem to remember when I swapped the lights to LEDs the rear indicator on passenger side had crimped connectors not the official one. I wonder if perhaps the original connector had an issue with it.

Ha, ha, not a problem. I like a 300Tdi ;)
Sounds like a plausible possibility with the indicator light socket. Is the other connector round?

Now I do remember this coming up before and some one knew the answer but I am dammed if I can remember the answer.:oops:
