When asking for help from LZIR
Please be clear whether you are asking:-
- For advice
- Physical assistance
LZir isn't an alternative to a national recovery service, but if you do need help then you will get it quicker if you tell us......
- Your rough location (keep exact location for PM's and phone calls)
- How urgent it is (is the AA/RAC on it's way or is yer Doris having a baby on the back seat halfway down a boggy lane)
- What it is you need....tools/towing/winching/scuba divers/cake....
It's up to you whether to give out your number to other members that you don't know.
It might speed things up a little to Private Message MHM and BB your number while you wait for a response.
Android users I am here app
Iphone users ( MHM to add)
How Much Does It Cost
It is Free But, it's considered good form to offer to cover other members costs if:-
- part is new or of significant value
- Upfront fuel costs- if your offered more than a local recovery 10-15 miles or the person offering to help you has to travel a significant distance
- expecting more than originally agreed, this isn't fair as it's a disincentive to offer further help and abusing goodwill
- If your seeking to be recovered off forestry tracks and private land must seek land owners permission and expect a good ribbing.
Especially that last bit....
Legal
LandyZone offers a forum contact facility and it should be acknowledged that any assistance is provided subject to availability and without warranty at your own risk
Any assistance will only be provided with joint agreement of person being rescued and rescuers- if there is no agreement then LZIR will be abandoned.
Risk
An Old Fashioned Common Sense Approach and Mutual Agreement of the safest possible solution- a verbal risk assessment of situation should be agreed by all prior to starting.
EXAMPLE:- your vehicle is bottomed out in Byway Open To All Traffic (BOAT) while every care will be taken- if you agree to assistance plan of action, then if it say damages exhaust on freeing vehicle- Rescuers are NOT Liable
FeedBack
Remembering this is run and organised by volunteers who are trying to assist people in a spirit of goodwill and not a paid for service.
Positive feedback on experiences and if something could be improved- for instance Fanatic got stuck and pointed out that an "I am here app" would assist in finding persons location.
