Been trying to free up my diff lock lever on my 300tdi discovery and haveing no luck realy.
Been reading older posts etc but nothing that I'm doing is working and as I don't know anything about landrovers I don't know what I'm doing wrong or what to do next.

Been spraying wd40 into the linkage and selector for the past couple of days and working back and forwards every chance I get but nothing improving yet.
Do I take it all apart and try that or just buy a second hand unit??
I'm in Essex near upminster if any body wants to lend a hand haha.

have you removed center consol ,rubber gaiter ,if you do you will be able to access lever and try and free if lever is still seized unbolt lever housing 4 bolts and undo linkage ,with housing off you will find shaft for diff lock seizes where it slides in aluminum end cap (passenger side of housing as sat in vehicle ),will need stripping ,cleaning and rebuilding with plenty of grease ,when refitting jack one wheel up to allow rotation of wheel to help with engagement of diff lock and high low to ensure all select properly if you need more info let us know,i ve done it a thousand times but it is hard to cover all points

I have been spraying wd40 in there and still nothing lol
The sound of takeing it off and rebuilding sounds alittle scary to me as does trying to reline the diff lock and high and low.
Think I need to find some one local to me who can lend a hand

its all stright forward diff lock removal is that nut bolt 7mm and 8 mm spanners ,and high low that bolt near housing on hi/low lever undo clamp bolt and pulls off it sits on spline so right spline neds to be found when refitting to ensure selection of both hi/low but yo can leve that on and pull housing up and disconnect pin to linkage going to t/box so not distrubing setting

Hmmm so I wanted to remove the thing that sits on the splin I can score a line across then when refitting to match the lines up??
Might have to leave this till Saturday I surpose

yes you could but resetting isnt hard you leave diff lock lever disconnected put hi/low one on try lever if it doesnt select both well, move round a spline or so till does then fit and tighten clamp bolt, holding lever over to passenger side helps hold splined shaft out while tightening ,jacking front wheel up helps by allowing rotation to allow hears to line up for selection

James, Its the Brentwood LR clubs meet tonight, feel free to pop along and I am sure someone wont mind having a look. Unfortunatly I wont be there tonight :(

Its at the Thatchers Arms Pub in Warley which is 5 mins from the South Ockendon turning off the A127 :) from 8pm onwards.

Hmmm that sounds good to me.
It's only 2mins from me as I'm staying on codham hall farm as working on the m25 so yeah I might just pop up anyways,

Mine needed to come out and was hit with a rather large hammer to get it free.

Once it starts to move, lots of grease etc, and now its like new - can move it into diff lock, or high/low with one finger (well almost :D)
