Hi Guys, I'm Danand I'm New!

In urgent need of some help or pointing in the right direction! I recently replaced the doors on my 1992 Defender 110 with all round Puma Doors....

Unfortunately last week they were stolen leaving me doorless! The insurance company wants to write the vehicle off because of the cost of new doors! I've told them to forget it as I want to keep what is probably the best landrover I've ever had!

My question is where can I get or does anybody have some not to shabby doors I could buy? I'm realistic and know what they sell for so don't worry but I can't afford to do the whole puma thing again. Just looking for some good doors in a good state of repair! Complete if possible as I don't have any parts to swap over!

As I said I know what to expect to pay I just need to get her secure and usable again!

Thanks

I've got a pair of alloy skin front doors. Td5/puma type and need painting. £200 for the pair.

i've got a bare tdci/puma front passenger door. it's got a dodgy coat of matt grey and i'll chuck in as many internal parts as i can find. pm if you're interested for more details

When I bought my 110 CSW and someone said your doors and bonnet will get stolen I thought this was a joke. The only thing holding my doors together is the door cards and paint tbh I would be too worried to buy new doors if this is happening.

Damn disgrace

sorry to hear about your woes, but why not just let them write it off?

Buy it back off them (before its taken away!) for a pittance and bank the rest?

Having it as a Cat D isnt the end of the world.

Doors seem crazily expensive... it might be worth having a look at these

My doors are rotted through and getting the old series style doors looks to be the cheapest option. I don't know if they fit the modern Defenders though...

I like the look of those doors, I might get a pair myself when the time comes! Decent price too

How much are you talking for the doors to be replaced with puma doors?

I can't imagine more than 1500? (I could be well out here...)

If it is that "low", I'd keep on at insurance. It's the standard 20+ year old car must be worth nothing argument that you see from some insurers. a 1992 defender in good condition could still be worth 5, 6 grand sort of price - that makes the price of the doors a quarter of the cost of the vehicle. Not sure that should be written off....

I once bought back my first car - a fiesta- for a grand total of £20! The assessor came to look and wrote it off for the sake of a damaged n/s wing. He offered me £245 and when I asked if I could keep the car he did some sums and offered me £225! I broke it and more than doubled his first offer, and, ironically, it's the ONLY car I've ever turned a profit on!!
Written off is not such a bad thing depending on the numbers.
