hiya lads,i,m driving 150miles each day this week in my 2.5dse.i was worried about overheating issues but touch wood so far so good.but i,ve just got a key fob battery low level light come up.anyother time i would,nt worry about this but i need the car for the next 2 days,i have no spare key,no eka code and i,m flapping like fook.i don,t really won,t to go changing the remote battery just incase it goes t*ts up and immobilises the car.would i by better off locking the car with the key instead of the remote?i,m under the impression if locked with the fob you can only open with the fob?how long once the fault comes up does the batttery last?and will the car start with a complete dead battery if locked/unlocked with the key?any ideas lads much appreciated

The low battery message comes up sometimes if the key fob has been in your pocket as the buttons are a bit exposed and can be held pressed. I have had that message but have not changed the batteries, no problem.

If it's only appeared since yesterday I wouldn't worry about it until the weekend.
Dont forget, you need two batteries CR2025. Be sure to only get quality batteries as the cheapies don't last long. The CR2032 look the same but are slightly thicker and make it more difficult to refit the battery cover.....a job which is a pain in the ass at the best of times !!!
I would make sure you get the EKA code from a main dealer first though..you know, or should do, what these P38's are.
If it goes tits up, I am in Walsall on Sunday and can sort your EKA out.

cheers data,what about locking the car tonight,will i gain anything by locking it with the key?i,ve got another battery but with me desperatly needing the car the next 2 days i don,t want to tempt fate by changing it.i,ve read that some people after changing their key fob batt have found themselves with an immobilised car

As long as the fob LED is working, it should lock/unlock ok

cheers irish,i,m 2 days into a £600 dog training week so the last thing i need is for my rr to let me down which is why i,m desperate to keep it on the road till friday.i suppose has much as i love it thats the only downside to owning a p38,its reliability.i,ll carry a couple of spare batterys tommorow just incase.what about locking the car with the keys instead of the fob,i take it its the same has any car without remote c/locking or is there more electrical gremlins to watch out for.walsall,s 5 mins from me so if needed i,ll give you a bell.thanks again craig
