Hi all
I have a series 3 petrol, engine block, 3 bearing, that has to have new liners (because of deep groves and rust and were are over 0.040) how can I remove the liners and fit new ones on a tight budget?

I was going to buy a removal tool but I there seams to be no liner visible from the underside to locate the tool on to remove it.
Next thought was to melt the liners out or cut with a hack saw until they split, but i am concerned this will do more damage than good. Along with the williys jeep method of chiselling them out. Then putting the new liners in the freezer and driving them in with a wood block and hammer.

I haven't really the money for someone else to remove and refit them or a new block so be grateful for your advice.

you bore them out slightly offset so you can then split them at the thinnest point ,but you cant just fit another liner unless it happens to be the exact diameter needed, each bore ois bore out to a liners diameter minus 3-4 thou to give and interference fit once liners pressed in

Grind a slot down one side with a long die grinder, obviously take care not to go through at any point, it's actually surprisingly clear when you've gone right through the liner at any one point, do that all the way up and down on one side and it'll go pop and crack any few little bits you miss
