Well its been hot and sunny here the last few days (sorry, not rubbing it in, remember when i was complaining about -28, swings and roundabouts) and its also a holiday week so have had time to get some bits and pieces done on the disco, yesterday was pushing 30+ degrees so thought i would have a crack at getting the old stickers off my Disco. They came away easily but left the old girl looking worse so thought i would splash some paint on her.this as was

and this was after an hour or two with a 4 inch roller and some mat/satin black straight to metal type paint

So today we were heading out as a family to do some bits and pieces and i picked up some more paint, thinners, couple more roller heads and a decent 60mm paint brush, which led to this

I brush painted the roof to get a decent finish and need to run the roller over the body one more time with some thinned down black this time just to get rid of the roller marks from the first coat, i didnt have any thinners yesterday so had to do with just straight up slightly thickened paint, not ideal but still a vast improvement i think.

the white roof is part practical, as i said its bloody warm here in the summer and part homage to Landies of old, i think it looks the dogs danglies as a contrast to the mat black body panels, even the wife is impressed. Cant wait to get the thing muddy now, just gotta fit a fresh UJ tomorrow and then its time to get it dirty again and looking like it should,it needs scratching:D

Looking great mate. Did the same thing to my Disco last year the night before Billing, quite drunk in the dark

sweet as mate these pics make me wonna go out and get the stuff for mine did you have to rub the body down before painting ?

im gonna wait till summer to do mine

i wernt going to say anything about the littel umbrella on the roof

do you put it up when it rains to stop water geeting in the sun roof

Just gave it a wash, well the wife did, and rubbed down a couple of bits on the roof leading edge where i had stone chips that had started to rust, otherwise it was just a wash and wipe over.
i like the water catching device is it connected to a water butt under the bonnet?
Ta, when its as hot as it is now, we need to save as much water as possible;) really i just turned it round to paint the other side, the DIY snorkel was on when i bought it but i have to say it has done me proud been upto the windscreen and still running, so all is good:D

Cheers,

as for the boot floor and rear body cross member etc etc, they are getting attacked this week, once the little fella is back in kindergarden, small boys and welders, grinders and clumsy oaf of a father really shouldnt all be in the same area at once:eek:

Looks great. I need to do something with Tilly she is a strange patchwork silver and green pattern at the mo. The chap who painted her last did no prep at all and now everytime I get the pressure washer out more green appears!!!! Maybe mat black is a good idea 4 me 2!
