Hey guys,

The cost of lifting my D2 by 2" and then shooeing it with 265/75/16 KM2's is absolutely eye watering and I can't make up my mind if it's OTT or not. In some photos it looks nice and in others it looks a bit naff and way overkill for a greenlaner. I read that 245/75 is a nice alternative size for an unlifted D2, but I haven't been abe to find many photos. I just want to see how snug they are in the arches etc, but it's certainly a very attractive alternative to the best part of £1500. It also means I can get my tyres done before the winter then renew the dampers and coils afterwards.

So anyone got any pics of theirs :)?

Found a good one, looks pretty good to me. I know that's a D1 but it'll be similar. With +2 shocks there'll be a little extra articulation, even if I don't lift it :).

Mine ran them on standard for about half a year then I put on +1.5 HD springs

Interesting, did you have to do anyhting about castor and such? Or did it not affect the handling? The cost of the 2" lift castor corrected arms, brake hoses, spacers and shocks is pretty high!

I was thinking of putting 1" spacers under the springs and airbags, as I don't think that'd be enough to stuff up the geometry.
 
Yeh I'm hoping that with the 245/75 KM2's and +2 shocks it'll be a great laner even wihtout lift but still civilised on the road :).
 
I'm going to fit standard springs for now, I'm hoping that doing that and fitting new shocks will improve the ride a bit. I don't drive all that fast so wallowing doesn't tend to be a problem, plus I think the air suspension helps on that count too :).


Wonderful car to drive around though, once the clutch and flywheel are done it's going to be a real honey :).
 
I had 265/75/16 on my D2 with std suspension and used it off road and it was fine
I then lifted it 2" ( springs front spacers rear and longer brake pipes) and it's still fine

No rubbing on full lock in the car park or during articulation off road? Looks great mate :).

When I first fitted them one front tyre would catch the bumper when I started to turn
But when I looked into it the problem was a bent bumper bracket meaning the bumper was sitting back to far on one side
I just replaced that and it's been fine
Just a note I don't have spacers so that may help?

Hmm that's very tempting then! Ideally if i fitted 275's I'd want to lift it by an inch rather than two - but I can't find much in the way of one inch lifts. Bearmach make 20 and 300mm HD front spring but I can't find the equivalent spacers for the airbags on the back :(. Might have to buy 40mm spacers and machine them down?

Looks great! Seriously really nice! So no rubbing or adverse effects then? Did you mod the spare wheel carrier? Anything else :)?

Ah poo doesn't look like you can get KM2's in that size :(. However 245/75 is only a smidge smaller in diameter - 3mm or so. So it's basically the same and that's a common size for KM2. Reading around it's pretty clear that 265/75 is way overkill for my needs. 245/75 has the right balance of looks, performance and behaviour I think :).

No adverse effects. I had to trim the mud flaps on the front of the side steps but that was about it. I do have SLS on the rear so raise that up when offroading, but my modulars are spaced out by 30mm and I've been told by others running this size on normal offset wheels that they've had no problems at all.

As for the carrier it didn't need flipping, but does sit on the rear bumper ever so slightly, just means you have to slam the door a bit harder. I don't mind because it takes some weight off the door whilst shut.
 
Well that satisfies me :). Personally I think it looks great without the lift, real solid looking and less arse to deal with.
