had a conversation today with one of our local highways guys and he said over the next few weeks that they will be inspecting pheasent steps and other routes in north wales with view to closure to 4x4s and trial bike after last weekends death. health & safety issues over the condition of tracks in question and how long they would need after recent storms to be consider'd passable

I saw the report of that but not any detail. Was the accident on the Pheasant Steps

yep but unfortunately due to it being a death the councils in question are sending out highways and health and safety reps to see if they can close several lanes in north wales after all the recent bad press for irresponable off piste laning capel curig is another one to be assessed

The death was tragic as they all are, but how many deaths are there on motorways and other roads ? And does anybody look into closing them (I don't think so)

So, was the unfortunate chap driving off-piste? If so, then it's kind of an apple/oranges comparison - closing a lane when the death did not occur on the lane itself...

Is the highways guy prepared to put that down in an email or phone call do you know ?

would;d be good to get GLASS and TRF onto this straight away

I already pushed it up to GLASS and the TRF. I tried to get Total Off Road to show some interest as well.

The poster hasnt responded to my request for details of who said it or which council ROW department.

I have been told that those details are needed so it can be actioned !!

the landrover ended up about where the 'd' of cattle grid is

Ta Ste.

Hmm... so given that the track (pink dots) is in the valley, and the 'd' is up on the hillside, then he must have been above that, so well off-piste?? Uless I'm missing something.

your not missing anything

as luck would have it I have a pic of the pink dotted where its crossed by the vertical blue just to give an idea of the land
