Afternoon all, I have been away with work for 8 months out of the last 12 and plan to start overhauling my series 3 109 when I get home next week, my carb was in a bit of a state(34ich) last time I was home and I didnt want to start messing about to have it sit for another 4 months while I've been away, i plan to overhaul the fuel pump and replace the fuel line to the carb, can I take the pump off without draining what's left in the tank. There isnt a lot left in there and I was planning to fill it up to dilute it before running her.

Yes you can, just tie up the fuel lines so it does not syphon out under gravity
Might be worth removing the sender unit and pick up pipe to see what inside looks like , if full of crap bits might be better draining , cleaning tank out and putting fresh in keep, the other for cleaning or putting back in after filtering bit at a time
