Space man
Does anyone know or have a picture of the valves and their corresponding numbers ? Cant find it in RAVE.
Attempting to adjust the valve clearances and need a point to start !

cheers :D

frount to back of block

when _ is open adjust _

8 1
6 3
4 5
7 2
1 8
3 6
5 4
2 7

think it is a rule of 9. ie. take the valve number that is open away from 9 and adjust that tappet

ok thanks for that so from the front which way do the numbers go ? IE front left 1 front right 2 ?

uur. the engine is horizontally apposed so the valve numbers run simply 1-8. 1 being next to the rad and 8 is next to the bulkhead.

hope that helps?

ow and sounds like you need a workshop manual. you can find them to download online.

with valve no 8 fully open i set valve no1 to 0.010 with the feelers then locked the adjuster, then followed on in this order

valve 8- adjust no1
valve 6-3
valve 4-5
valve 7-2
valve 1-8
valve 3-6
valve 5-5
valve 2-7

are no i see your confusion.

Bolkhead
8
7
6
5
4
3
2
1

the valves are in one line (two per silinder)

read my list as

when valve number 8 is fully open adgust valve number 1
when valve number 6 is fully open adgust valve number 3
when " " 4 " '' '' '' '' '' 5

and so on dawn the list.

sorry to confuse you.

no the old type ,didnt find out about the composite until after we'd done it :(

if its still leaking will go fer a comp :)

i had problems with a copper gaskit :( so i was given a compo it fixed it straight away

so i used one to start with on this build , save any problems later on / pits or distortion in the head or block , should allow for them ,

been given an aluminium lookin head gasket too, fer 2.25 petrols dunt trust it tho, so cant comment on them, looks like cardboard inbetween two bits of ally ??

from what i've heard the comp is a much better option than the old type.wish i'd known about it before the HG change !
