Hi

Just wandering what performance gains are available for the 4.0 V8 (2002 disco)

I know about exhausts, airfilters, de-cats, remapping etc butb what about the camshaft and or head work ?

Cheers

the rover head is really bad for flow - a decent set of heads should liberate ~25-30hp

a decent cam will make the engine rev better.

what you can do is swap your crank and rods for 4.6 items and keep the 4.0l pistons for a high comp ratio 4.6.

Cool - that sounds good :)

Sorry to hijack but;

Will a 3.9 performance cam fit ? Got my eye on one

Also looking into an electric dizzy purely for water when offroading or during the floods here but that might help too ?

3.9 will fit 3.5 ,its somethng that was done a lot as well as fiting h/c pistons in defenders etc

depends if its for an early or late 3.9 serp lol

what cam is it?

only difference between 3.5 and 3.9 standard EFI cams is 2 degrees of timing

the THOR manifold is tuned for low-mid torque and it suffers at the top end though

Getting more fuel.. in and the waste products out so with a carb bigger jets or bigger carb or more that one carb, efi get it remaped, hi lift cam with a profile so the inlet valves stay open longer and shut quicker a bigger valve head and then a free flow exhaust £1500 later you may be getting somewhere and then it's time lo look at stopping.:D

Been there done that don't see the point now.
