ive come to the conclusion the cogs have stripped in mine. Can this motor be stripped whilst on the car as the motor is outside or does it have to be done off the car
Looked high and low but found new parts totalling £30 to replace all cogs and housings to make it work again. Better than the £200 + fora replacement
 
Ive received all the bits from the bay of flees and going to take it off to do the job.
If anyone has the same problem then there is a few good vids on youtube on the BMW x5 mirror which is the same for the early models
