Hi all, i'm trying to help a mate with a 96 auto with some advice but this is way out of my knowledge, he sais that when he pushes the brake pedal the PAS gets stiff like there's no servo assistance for steering...any ideas?

they are totally unrelated,any other symptoms

Thanks m8, it was very strange for me too that's why i asked cos i checked the D1 workshop manual to try to figure it out and found no connection.... that's all he said that PAS gets stiff when brakes are applied

ive known worn wheel bearings make the steering feel odd as brakes when applied move the disc but thats felt on the pedal, both vac pump and pas pump are engine driven,it might be worth checking swivel bearings
