hey guys can u give a fool like me a hand again before i strip the rear tub completly, drilling all the rivets everything the part im looking is 395699 the actual floor ive emailed paddocks and they dont have this part has anyone got any idea of were else to get it or can i make it myself from a big sheet of aluminum thanks guys

try john craddocks they semm to do almost everything, might be lucky.
failing that yes get some sheet and make one!

I did my 88 floor myself without any special tools, the 109 should be same process but a bit more involved
i replaced with new the main beams underneath and bought the tophat channel from a ally stockist, this i stuck on with structural adhesive to avoid welding
the ally sheet to use is birmabright ( spec 5251 or NS4) 2mm thickess

i made my floor with turned up edges on the sides as there was corrosion on the bits it sat on in places
the drilling of holes and a bit tin snipping is all you should need to do to make it fit + the pop rivets
the sheet cost me around £45 quid + another £20 for a firm to bend the sides up 30mm
the ally channel was cheap, the beams you can get from
MUC8949 REAR BODY FLOOR CROSSMEMBER | Land Rover Series 1948-1984: Body/Fittings: Brackets/Fittings | shop | www.lrseries.com | L. R. Series

if youre keen, i have a drg of the floor i can send

yer if you could send me that would be great, i no what you mean about the corosion at the bottom o yer thats a gd idea thanks i have 2 vehicles and both of them have shot floors so i need 2 make a new one, how long did it take you to do the job roughly

thanks

HI it took me a while overall but the longest bit was waiting for about a week for a sheetmetal workers to bend the ally.best to get it cut to size and bent up by same workshop.

i took time to galvo paint the crossmembers first and properly paint the underside, once you have the bits, it can be in and out in half to 1 day

as the floor was mostly shot, i ground off the rivets from inside and punched them out, remove wheel sarrier bracket and door btm stripfloor just lifted out , there was some good bits of old floor which i reused for patches on the seatbox ends , it bends ok after annealing

I had thought the sheet metal workers could spot weld the ally channel to plate but after practising they said it would not look too good therefore

I used araldite 2015 ( very strong 2 part adhesive, google it for spec and what othere people use it for, i gt 200ml cartridge and used about half) to stick the top hat channel to floorbottom, its since carried 1/2 tonne rubble in without any probs, needs careful preparation ie light sanding and cleaning with meths, the glue goes off quick with light handling in 4 hours

the drg is in mm for the workshop, but original in inches

i used some panel sealant before placing the new floor, i havent painted the inside as the previous onwer put in some ply to cover the holes

if you pm me your email address i can send some info its too big to post
