I would imagine this subject has been covered many times before. I’m currently doing a total rebuild of a series 2a but keeping the V8 that had been previously fitted. The existing springs are shot and have been advised to go for parabolic springs as they give a better ride. There seems to be hundreds of different makes so I could do with some recommendations. Have heard that the Britpart ones are rubbish! Any advice regarding springs warmly received.

Hope this helps............

My 2 penneth worth........

In my experience, nobody replaces the springs on a seris til thier totally knacked and flat!
I had a ser3 with knackered springs, I fitted new, standard springs and shocks and the ride was brilliant!!

There's nothing wrong with standard springs but parabolics in my opinion are ten times better. Gb springs are what you want, I put a set on my 2a about 7 years ago now and they're still going strong!
It's a lot softer ride, it steers better and brakes better plus because the leafs don't touch together they don't sieze up and you don't need to keep freeing them with oil every year. The only thing is that they aren't cheap and you really need gas shocks with them to get the full potential out of them.
If you decide to get paras just don't buy cheap crap ;)

I went with v8jon's suggestion and fitted gb's finest and procomp +2's (no he does not work for either!!)

Amazing difference - would deffinalty recommend!
