Does anyone know what type of paint would be best to use to paint my door cards on my defender.

They are off at the moment and while they are off I thought I could change the gray to a nice black to match the dash.

I'm guessing some sort of plastic paint but I don't want it to be peeling off so want to use the correct stuff.

Thanks guys

Plasticote, about £6 a spray can from B&Q, there are also proprietary Plastic based paints in Homebase for spraying Vinyl roofs and Vinyl seats, cant remember who makes it but similar to Plasticote and does a perfect job.

Cheers Steve

I got some of that rustilium ultimate in hammered black. Think I may have been seduced by the fancy can, and the thought that it must be good at 12 quid a can.
What you guys think? Hammered or change it for the satin?

Anyone? Will nip and swap them first thing. Satin or hammered black?

Thanks guys turned out amazingly. Used plasticote black primer then satin black. About 4 thin coats did the job and looks a thousand times better than the grey.
Now for the seats...

Saw some vinyl spray paint in b&q. Says its suitable for car seats, and contains real vinyl. Anyone used this stuff?

you may find vinyl restorer from frost.co.uk better

Plasticote is great , will paint most things... just wish Id taken out some shares in em years ago before doing this......

***old thread revival***

Is this still available 'on the high street'? Or equivalent, for door cards...

Couldn't see it in halfords or B&Q?

plasti-kote is just a brand name.. it doesn't imply it's paint for plastics.

the dash soft? vinyl paint soaks deep and changes colour

might be an unusual use for it but I did see someone using brake fluid to restore a black vinyl s3 dash in a resto thread on here

Wilkinson also had some stuff by Rustoleum: "Painters Touch" or something like that. I think that was for plastics too!

It's done a bloody good job. 1 can was enough to for both cards. We'll see how it fairs the test of time...

Good to know. I'm going to do my grill and lamp surrounds soon and Wilko seemed to be the best value for money, but limited in choice of brands.
