:doh:My 90 has had the worst mat green paint job ever. Does anyone know of anything that will strip the paint without going back to bare metal? the original colour was blue and I would like to respray it without starting from scratch.
my advice having just done a complete refurb and respray is DO NOT scrimp on the prep..any suspect paint left will bite you in the ass later...use an air driven disc sander to take as much suspect paint of as possible..
Thanks for that it looks as though theres lots of work ahead!!!!
did you fill the dents or not if so is it standard filler and if so does it need to be on the alluminium?

souns expensive but I can see where you are coming from, paint it right paint it once was advice I was given but I dont know a lot about paint so any tips where to seek the knowledge?
Also I need to take the paint off the checker plate any tips?
Who the feck paints checkplate?? Going to have to strip that off...how much have you got? It may be worth buying new and flogging the plate you have..
As for the paintwork...as wilts says...and it aint expensive...100 quid tops for the lot inc brushes...have you got access to a garage and a compressor? Its well worth it..i did mine in 3 days...
Really appreciate the help.
The previous owner painted the chequer plates on the wing tops the bonnet ,sills in fact they painted every part of the landy mat green including the wipers. The plates look good I think they have been shaped by somebody who knew what they were doing!
chequer plate can be painted but again it needs to be etch primed or if ya put a jetwash any where near it it will come off quicker than thai hookers knickers..
