Hello all,
I've got a quick question regarding any differences between the P60 2L engine that was in the Rover P4 car from the 1950's and the 2L engine in the Series 1 Landy. I do know that some Series 1 Landys have P60 cylinder heads.
Any info would be great.

Ha ha, did a few searches on P60's & early Landies as I do remember reading something about real early I's having under torqued Rover car engines. Thought I'd come up with something intelligent........er, not this:

New changes were made for the 1952-53 models, many of them weakening features for the sake of style and selling points, like outside door handles or further remodelled seats and grille. The philosophy of improved styling was carried through in the release of the 86" successor of 1954, which in one swoop corrected almost all the faults of the 80" and looked quite presentable too! The one significant mechanical change during the last two years of the 80" was the boring out of the engine from 1595cc to 1997cc, giving a minor increase from 50 to 52 bhp but improving the maximum torque from 80 to 101 lb ft.

so going by this it seems that the engine was a 1600 bored oot a bit so probelly not the same engine as the p60
 
i spoke to spock about his series4 klingon rover and he said it was " illogical" to have a snorkel mounted above yer heid. because due to the water pressure acting on the dissy and the oil filler and yer lungs fur that matter , that by the time the water level reached the height of some snorkels yer motor would be full of water as would yer lungs. so unless you know something mr spock don't know a snorkel is about as much use as tits on a bull. well one mounted above yer roof any ways. anyway i'm orf back to me spliff noo
 
Well, I wasn't talking about your mechanic! Those lrfaq pages are a mine of useful info. I've used them to find a hoooge amount of stuff.
 
well i ain't going looking last time it took me three weeks to get back out and that was only after lord lucan had shown me the way while he was takin shergar for a little trot
