you've checked for continuity on each of the wires in pairs with a multi meter to find out it's burnt out then?? the thermal overload switch is a **** of a thing to change, but it can be done.
The overheat cutout switch is located within the compressor. Compressor needs to be stripped to remove and re solder a new one in. They are available from Rover Renovations in the USA for around $16.00 + post. But if you strip the old one out and read the numbers on it you may be able to get one from CPC or Radio spares.
