hey there, i don't regularly use the forums but i'm in need of a little help. the other day i took my new p38 on a 50 mile drive and as i was coming home realised my engine temp was rising. i pulled over and turned it off leaving the aux fan on to try and cool it but noticed a small crack along the top of the plastic on top of my radiator ****ing steam out. filled the coolent system up with just water, waited 20 mins and cautiously drove home staring at the temp gauge. i have order'd a new rad but bodged up the crack with some industrial glue which seems to temporarily be working, however i'm noticing that wen at a stand still ticking over the temp starts to climb, but if i accelerate even if at a stand still just pushing the throttle it brings it back down. now i know the the temp will rise without the air hitting it whilst moving but it seems unusual to me in comparrison to other motors i have had. what im asking is, is this fairly normal in a p38? do they just get hot, theres no indication of a head gasket gone ie oil in the water/water in the oil, did the rad crack because of a more serious issue? i dont know much about land rover, this is my first one, and am very quickly discovering a lot of annoying gremlins that come with it. haha, cheers ;)
