Hi Everyone,

My passenger side airbag deployed after the prop shaft broke. I have the MOT soon so need to get rid of the SRS light and airbag fault. I have ordered a used SRS ECU and plan to put a resistor on the airbag connector rather than replace the airbag.

If anyone knows the correct resistance for that connection could you PM it to me please?

(It is right hand drive by the way so it is the left hand passenger side air bag)

Thanks :)

1.5 ohms worked for me, needs to be at least a 1 watt device.

Thanks @Datatek. That's really helpful. As I'm putting in a second hand ECU (so can't be 100% sure it's ok despite assurances) it's a bit chicken and egg as I guess both the ECU and resistor need to be right for the light to go off.

I read the code with Lynx which only says 'front impact sensors configuration fault' which I read elsewhere means the SRS ECU itself as I don't have the front sensors. I am a little surprised though there is no code for the deployed airbag as well although maybe that appears once the SRS ECU is changed out!

It's a long time ago, but when I had a side airbag trigger, I don't remember if there was a specific fault for the actual airbag that deployed, but since the ECU has to be replaced after a deployment, recording a specific fault would be a bit pointless.

A massive thank you to @Datatek for his advice on this (and other topics). It'a such a pleasure to have a clear display with no SRS light and airbag error :) Just to sort out the cats and exhaust and my old girl may make another MOT after 148k. I'm pretty new to all this stuff and the advice and support is second to none here. Thanks again !
