Hi all,
Car is a 97 4.6 HSE automatic.
I was under the car to replace the radius arm bushings. I have been wondering if I have a worn bearing somewhere in the driveline, because there is a slight vibration that I can feel through the soles of my feet and I don't think it's always been like this.
So I checked for play at both ends of the front prop, and there is indeed a tiny amount of radial play at the front output end of the transfer case. Is this normal? I have seen a write-up on here by Busterbus of this bearing being replaced, but I don't know if I have the same box. His had a single ball bearing in this position and I'm thinking that this may indeed have some play, even with a new bearing in it. Am I right, or should I pull the bearing?
Does anyone know what the correct bearing and seal would be? Landrover part numbers or industry standard.
Cheers!
Henrik
