I know what everyones gonna say, your chopping up a perfectly good range rover! well its a n reg with 238k on the clock on lpg Only, no petrol tank on it at all.worth bugger all,i got the tailgate complete, rear lamps, complete front end of a 08 plate inc wings and front bumper for the cheap price of around a grand,so its going to be alot of work but ill get there in end even if i have to put 2 quarter panels on it and a the door skins off a sport it will look good and if all else fails break it up into spares! cant loose really.

Whilst I am not against anyone doing things to their own vehicles I wonder why anyone would want to do this conversion! I would also question wether the insurance would be valid with this modification! With sports becoming cheap I would buy one instead. That said a finished picture would be good for us to see how it looks.
Confused too . Com!

nothing wrong with chopping up a p38 im guilty of this but what is it worth complete as a n reg sport lookalike with no petrol tank and 238k miles on it ????quit whilst your ahead...

does it matter??something to do on the cold damp evenings after work...(assuming your married .)

though ..is the sport tailgate a one piece?cos if it is then i say no..where you gonna sit when it breaks down and you covered in oil waiting for rac/aa?..put the picnic etc?

It's no worse than 20 inch wheels and window tints..... lets face it the only time an old p38 has any value is when the weekly shop is in the boot..........

What can I say? nice workshop, its your RR do what you like to it m8, not for some I know, but each to his own

tbh you are only half doing it why not change the way your doors open rear doors turn around, front doors to open up now that would be modding it proplerly.. good luck not my seen but every body to there own ..

Thanks for the input , i aint doing all this to sell the range , its a project, bit of an advertising tool really for my business, no rush ill just crack on with it as and when i have time, this car was the perfect vehicle for this conversion as the tailgate was badly corroded and the rest of car, well it hasnt aged well, the tail gate will open complete and the window opens up on the original tailgate hinges, all the wiring is straight foward. The maim reason is that there so many sport conversions with vouge back ends , they look odd

your right a few have depreciated overnight now all the pressies and shoppings been removed:D
but seriously its down to your own taste on mods afterall its you who has to drive it good on ya:clap2:

Im usally the first to have a pop at these conversions, but your thinking seems sound to me so crack on ! I will be following the thread with interest.

Why NOT do it? To me its no worse than someone spending shed loads of money on fishing rods etc to go sit on a river bank getting fecking frozen to catch a few manky half dead fish! I notice hes working on it right under that huge gas heater to keep warm too lol

Good point, but why spend £1,000.00 on bits, plus cost of consumables, plus hours of labour time to mod a car that's worth £500.00, and will still be worth £500.00 when finished, does seem a bit of a fools errand. But each to their own i suppose.

fleebay item no 320804608246,
if it works out might be worth getting in touch with this fella

Years ago my brother and I built a Lotus 7 replica kit car, its never been worth anywhere near what we spent on doing it in parts and time but was great fun doing it, which was the whole point, I can see exactly why he wants to put a sport tailgate on a p38, its the problem solving and work in the doing more than the finished car or what it might be worth afterwards
