posting this on behalf of my old man

his 1995 p38 has a fault where it locks the drivers side rear wheel when driving on softer ground, soon as any slip on any wheels bang it locks

anyone have any idea where to start looking
ill get more info when i see him, but the above is the general idea

cheers

That will be the traction control working locking the spinning wheel. Quite normal.

Could be a locked caliper
Does it drag the wheel or will it start spinning again?

Yes if it does not release after traction control has finished it's job, it will be the slider pins binding. Need stripping cleaning and greasing.

Or the brake lines to the rear brakes swapped so the "wrong" wheel is being braked when the system is detecting wheelspin.

Bit of an update, sometimes it locks and drags others it realeases but when it does release it clicks as it turns if this helps the diagnosis

Thanks in advance

on early cars the TC was an option, does your dads car have TC?
If its locking the same wheel every time one of the other wheels spins that seems more like a locking up caliper, take it for a run and then feel the wheels, if ones got a binding caliper it'll be a lot warmer than the others
