Hello Gentlemen..

Upon returning from a trip to Anglesey I was driving along the A55 coast road only to see the red light on on the water temp gauge..

I pulled over to find steam and water coming from a crack at the top of the radiator.. There was no water in the system.. After around 10 stops to refill the system for the remainder of the journey I managed to scrape home..

Do I buy a second hand radiator or go for a new one..??

Where would you suggest to go, I have been advised to use paddocks..

Oh and is it a job I can do myself or will it have to go to a garage..

If any one can help me here that would be fantastic..

Many thanks..

Andy.

Hello AndyP

Please also check your expansion tank, with the top off and the engine running, check to see if you have any gas bubbles comming through the coolant, if so you have more problems than you think.

This happened to me radiator went first, then the head started to fail, ended up scrapping the car and moved to a freelander,
Rick is correct it is an easy job to change out the radiator, remeber to change the O ring seals as well

good luck

Regards Dutch RR (now freelander)
