Hi, This is my second post on this. P38 V8 118,000 miles is overheating when staionery or going slow uphill slowly, all ok on the open road. I have changed the viscous fan but not cured the problem, someone suggested changing the radiator, any ideas if this will help or will i be barking up the wrong tree. No fluid loss, any idea when the eletric fans should cut in but this wouldnt effect the going uphill or would it. Any ideas most wellcome before a garage is consulted.

Don't really know that much about the petrol P38's but when was the rad last changed, when its up to temp are there any cold spots on it?? is the thermostat opening OK?? When was the water pump last changed??

These are the same symptoms I experienced with my 4.2 LSE some time ago. The vehicle sounds lie it is overheating under load. I would take a look at the radiator. These become choked up over time.If you let the engine warm up then compare the heat in different position on the radiator fins.
Options are re-core or replace. If you continue to run it you are likely to blow a head gasket and damage your engine. £200 or £2000?

Have changed the viscous coupling and thought that all was well but happened again today so will put a new rad and thermostat on asap.
