Hi all, becm sync not problem......
I have a year 2000 DHSE, which has Sat on drive since December. I connected battery put in eka code, all lights on dash working, engine turns over but does not fire up. Put Battery on charge overnight, but still not starting. Can't smell any diesel when cranking. When the battery has been left to rundown previously I have had to re-sync becm via local independent, hence disconnecting battery to maintain charge and avoid re-sync. I have left it standing before albeit not for 6 months and has always started. Any ideas appreciated.
Thanks Marky.

Thanks all for replying,
Grrrr. I am in Essex
Re - sync, I have disconnected battery several times and only needed EKA to get going again. Which I have entered allowing doors to unlock and ignition to operate
Wazzajnr, are you saying it needs syncing via sync mate tool or similar?
Thanks
Marky.

To disconnect battery so you do not need EKA code. Slacken negative lead, switch ignition on and off, remove negative lead within 17 seconds, before alarm cycles. Letting battery go flat on car can cause BECM to scramble EMS code, that would need re syncing with diagnostics. Nothing to do with EKA code.

I'm always disconnecting the battery. Never had to use the EKA code no matter how long it's been left without power.
Always disconnect the battery with the vehicle unlocked, then lock manually.

Thanks for info Rick the pick. I've disconnected battery with car unlocked and now not needed eka.
Anyone got sync mate fir sale or rent?

Where are you? Might help people to know how far they are from you when asking for help.

Re non starter, not becm sync
I bought a sync mate from black box, plugged it in and got solid green light, which I believe means becm synced.
Rangie cranks but still won't start, I can't smell any diesel when cranking.
I am now thinking new glow plugs
Has anyone any other checks or ideas I can carry out?
Thanks

There's the emergency stop solenoid behind the driver kick panel.

Or fuse 39 in the fusebox controls the lift pump. If you bridge the fuel relay (see Technical Archive and Wammers post on how to do this) do you get the required amount of fuel?

A good diesel engine should start eventually even without glow plugs. Even if it doesn't start, if fuel is getting into the cylinders it should start "stacking up" i.e lots of smoke should start coming out of the exhaust.
If this isn't happening I think it's not getting fuel.
Does the diesel crank when immobilised?
I know the thor doesn't but I think gems does but not sure on the doodle.

It cranks when out of sync but he's already discounted that.

I think it's not getting fuel as wazzajnr mentioned, the daylight wasn't great when I looked this evening, but it doesn't look like the clear fuel line into the filter has much if any fuel in it.
I will take a look this weekend, remove fuel pipe from filter crank over and see if fuel is getting through. Also will swap fuel relay.
Rangie has been idle since January with probably less than 1/4 tank diesel.

Have you tried cranking it with a couple of injector pipes cracked loose to allow it to bleed the air out?

See Wammers post in the technical archive to check the fuel output, have you checked you have power to the fuel cut off solenoid with the ignition on?

Hi all, today I have,
Swapped fuel relay, not starting,
Depressed fuel cut off switch which clicked but still not starting,
I read wammers piece on bridging fuel relay, but am not sure where to put wire to do this.
Clear fuel pipe into filter head has air in, there are bubbles in middle and filter end of pipe,
Wazzajnr, Tried cranking it for longer and no smoke coming out exhaust.
So would say fuel not getting through.
Can anyone advise on disconnecting clear fuel line without breaking connections or idiots guide to jumping fuel pump.
Thanks Marky

Would think fuel lift pump is duff. If you get someone to switch ignition on when glow plugs are on you should see the bubbles in the clear pipe move. If they do and you switch on and off then on til glows go out several times injection pump should auto bleed enough for a start. If they don't move relay 12 is duff or lift pump is duff. Number five pin is the one that is nearest to the front of the car with relay removed and is contrary in orientation to the others.
