Hello everyone, I have a 2003 l322 diesel with a troubled gearbox , and I want to convert to a manual . I’ve seen this done using a BMW X5 3.0 diesel manual gearbox.
However these are hard to find , and I was wondering if anyone had used a p38 manual gearbox from the 2.5 , which I believe is the earlier version of the n57 3.0
Will the bell housing bolt on ?
I know the electrics will need sorting etc .
Has anyone got any advice ?

I believe the bellhousings are different, don't know if they make an adapter plate, someone on here did the conversion using the BMW bits could have been the X5. @badfluffy possibly.

use the x3 petrol gear box and a 25mm adapter between gearbox and range rover transfer box, gearbox and x3 fly wheel and clutch fit on the l322 engine

Philistine :eek::)
I know, they were 10 a penny when I did mine, Granada TV sold off the ones they had in their fleet and most of the stars that were collected from Manchester airport used to ask for them in preference to any other vehicle.Wish I had the storage facility then.:rolleyes::D
