Hi All,
Have had my P38 diesel manual for about a year now and it is a little too far gone and I want to buy a P38 4.6V8 auto with LPG. Possible part Ex.
I was going to sell my P38 on ebay but get fed up with time wasters and people thinking they are buying a new car expecting it to be in perfect condition even though list issues and sold as seen.

Main issues with my one is radio wiring needs re-doing and has overheating issue, I replaced the water pump, thermostat and cleared radiator. I think it may be a sender issue from the BECM. It only overheats when go above 70mph, below that its fine. Also servo for LHS temperature control needs replacing.

Other than that its in good nick for a 1995 model to be honest and we all know when we buy one always going to be issues as soon as you buy it and drive away.

If anyone is interested in maybe doing a part ex or buying it straight out much rather sell it to P38 lovers who know what they are buying.

I can provide details and photos but just wanted to plant the seed I may not sell it yet.

Thanks.

Ok i will make an offer. One Mars bar, a Milkyway and a quarter of midget gems (No black ones).

That was a bit of a rash offer wihout seeing the car, have you been at the the Christmas spirits early ?

Only another 29 posts and you can list it for sale, on the site. Maybe you'll have decided by then.

Waste of time posting don't understand the need of the above. Just trying to sort my car out and being taken the rise out of not acceptable really.

The need is because Landyzone is not your normal type of forum, mickey taking and having a laugh is normal banter - cos heck, if we didn't have a sense of humour, owning a Land Rover would drive us all insane.

Lighten up fella, and take it in the jest it is all intended.

Of course, if you have read the Welcome message (linked below) when you became a LZ member you would understand all this.

Try joining in the banter . . . . then you will reach enough posts to list it in the for sale section.

I believe there is a sales section.
You are much better asking a price for something like this, or you can end up with peoples lowest offer.
What ever format you sell it by you have too accept the tyre kickers and people who haven't a clue about how poor the mpg is and how high maintenance is

There are a minimum number of posts to use the For Sale section.

He's about halfway there.
BTW OP trying to clear an old rad is not usually very successful. Used ones you don't know how bad they were to start with. So either a recore of your old one or fit a new one.

The rad that is in there is an aluminium upgrade which was installed along a new viscous fan in 2017. can't imagine it is a blocked radiator.

the engine may have a blockage but it only overheats above 70mph, doing 65mph it's happy. There is a suspected head gasket doing a chemical head test. When OH occurs there fluid coming out expansion tank and it stone cold, the engine is hot but can be touched without an major issue.

difficult to determine the issue I have replaced all major heating components but I want to get a 4.6 petrol now as my diesel I bought as a project car.

HGF is less common than head failure on the diesel. At 70MPH ram air should provide enough cooling. If the discharge from the expansion tank is cold, sounds like an airlock, they are difficult to bleed.
Any radiator with inlet and outlet at the top will be prone to blocking as all the crud will rest in the bottom.

If you want a V8, you must be a glutton for punishment.

Yep, and a 4.6 will be much the same only with 2 extra cylinders, more to go wrong and with LPG - even more to go wrong!!!

I have just sold a 4.6 on gas....still waiting for them to pick it up, but none-the-less.....she does have a minor misfire and hesitation that I ran out of time to track down....and I wish the new owner the best of luck - when he picks it up that is!

I do wonder why you would want a V8 as the fuel bill is going to be big are they that much better?
