Having just purchased a pair of lower tailgate straps for my P38 (the old ones had snapped as per usual) I seem to have a problem.

The new ones sent (from Breakers Via Ebay) are about four inches shorter and the tailgate no longer sits flat.

Have the breakers sent the worng ones?

To begin with, the broken staps that came of had 10mm bolts and the new ones were fitted with a star shaped allen key.

Could anyone confirm that I have possibly been sent tailgate straps for a newer model at all or did Land Rover fix the snapping problem by making the newer ones shorter...

At the moment my dog is somewhat angry as she cant jump onto the lower tailgate to get in anymore...

Any help would be appreciated.:D

Nope
yu have the right straps.... Yu just have the wrong P38 to fit them to.

either that - or yu need the tail strap modification kit p/n frc2090 at £890 to make them fit.

cant you just put the old ones and the new ones side by side? if there shorter, you have the answer !!

The P38 straps have 10mm a/f hex. head bolts. If the tailgate is not level with the straps fitted into the original holes, obviously they are the wrong straps!!-just done a quick check and mine are approx. 450mm long-measured at the bolt centres.

Well I was sure I had the wrong ones, these are about 4 inches shorter than the ones that snapped and so the tailgate doesn't sit flat any more.

Anyone know what LR they would be for as they do fit the bolt holes and have LR badges moulded in the rubber.

I guess its back to the breakers to have an argument with him about how they dont fit as the lower tailgate is supposed to sit flat not at a 45 degree angle when lowered.:doh::doh:
