Hello there,
I have a 1998 R plate Range Rover 2.5 diesel manual done 123k. Whilst driving th vehicle when cold between gear changes the vehicle looses power on occasion and stalls no matter how hard you got your foot on the accelerator. When this occurs the diagnostic lamp comes on then off. Then you can start the car up again (no starting problems at all) and go about your business and drives fine when engine is warm. This problem only happens when the engine is cold.
Things I have done so far :
1. Diagnostic - no faults have been logged
2. Changed all the leak off pipes
3. Changed fuel filter
4. Check for loose and broken pipes
5. First place I look was the MAF sensor and the EGR valve, both of these are not fitted to this engine (old engine and model).
6. Checked for air bubbles on the pipe from the filter to injection pump, no air bubbles at all.
Taking the vehicle back tuesday to have it plug back in the diagnostic for free because my argument is that if the diagnostic lamp comes on when this happens it should log a fault code on the vehicles ECU because I refuse to start changing fuel pumps, injections pumps, injectors etc when there most of the time there is nothing wrong with them.
Any help would be very much appreicated .
Regards Dave.
