Hi People,

First of all I’m new to this forum, so I hope I’m posting this in the right area.

I have a 1995 P38 Range Rover, the ‘Key Code Lockout’ has activated on the dashboard. Now I know how to do the whole EKA procedure, as I have done the procedure many many times over the years. The problem I now have is the message saying ‘Key Code Lockout’ on the dash wont disappear for me to start the EKA sequence. I have made sure all the doors, and tailgate are shut. I have disconnected the battery many times. However it seems to be stuck in ‘Key Code Lockout’ mode…

I would appreciate any suggestions..

Think you have to wait 20 or 30 minutes for key code lockout to clear, you must have entered the code wrong to many times.Make sure the returns to the middle on every turn.Regards

Hi guys,

Like I said, I cannot start the EKA sequence until the ‘Key Code Lockout’ message has gone from the dash. I have waited much more than 30 mins on many occasions. I have disconnected and reconnected the battery, and waited at least 30 mins, but the message never goes.

Blanny, what do I need to do if its lost the codes in the bcm?

Put them back in with diagnostics.

I had this issue last week, I beleive that it may also be due to battery drain although interior lights were on and everything seemed to work ok, apart from letting me start the car...I ended up putting the P38 on jump leads from my other car, then it allowed me to put the EKA code in, up until that point I permanently had Key code lock out on the dash for 2 days....

Had several keycode lockouts, all of them were 30 min, not more, not less.

Is the EKA-code correct, has the BECM been changed? Tried 1515?

Is the door latches OK? I had problem with mine, both drivers and passenger-side.

Try using your spare key, Mozz smith is great with the EKA-procedure, helped me with my issue.

Hope you get on as the EKA is really a bugger.

As Wammers said get a Diagnostic tool to input data to the BECM.If however the BECM has gone into "Alarmed Lockout Mode" then it will need to be removed and unlocked and reset with direct cpu access via BBS Msv with SM035.

Don't take the battery out. I had this with my RR over the weekend. Each time I removed the battery it triggered the key lockout, I put in the battery, closed everything up and locked the door using the emergency key, 30 minutes later I returned and using the keyfob put in the code, skipping the turn lock 4 times. The central locking clicked in by the second code and I was able to start the engine.

If you are starting to get unreliability on the locking unlocking save yourself a lot of agravation and get Rick the pick to refurb your BECM , the components as OE had a limited life . it worked for me . :D JMHO

what is bcem ?? i have keycode lock out and dont have code, anybody out there help please.

BECM is the electronic control module under the drivers seat that controls most functions of the vehicle. If you don't have the EKA (emergency key access) code you will need to get it from a main dealer. Most won't charge for this but will probably require proof of ID and vehicle ownership. Check in your document wallet as it may be on a card or written in the handbook. To enter the code follow the instructions in the handbook or in Rave. The procedure varies depending on the model year so check first.

You cannot enter the EKA code while "keycode lockout" is displayed on the dash but this should go off after 30 mins.

Although this is supposed to be true, I've done it twice now with "keycode lockout" being displayed and it was accepted.

That's complete bollocks:mad:

hi , your main problem is you keep taking the battery off ??????????????????? there is absoloutley no reason whatsoever to do this apart from final sequence if all else fails when trying to re-sync a p38 . I don't care who or why anybody tells you any difference !!!!!!!! if you MUST take the battery off then unless you keep the car connected to a secondary source i.e. jump leads off the wifes car to YOUR battery leads i.e. providing a source of full amps . then all you are going to achieve is banging your head against the wall !!!!!! if you p.m. me I will supply you with my no and you can ring me and hopefully sort it out for you ,,,,at yhe last count I have re-sync d 180 p38s and have had perhaps 6 failures where the b.e.c.m. has lost connectivity to the engine management system ..therefore they need sending to our no1 expert rick the pick or at least re-syncd via , nanocom -t4-faultmate -etc etc etc ,, ok cheers MOZZ:crazy_driver::crazy_driver:

Mozz knows his stuff. I'm nearly at the stage of selling my p38 project and so as battery had gone flat ignored all the rules and took battery out and charged it left out of the car for a week. Put it back in key code lockout tried EKA code three times no go. Disconnected negative lead for 1 min to stop the bleedin alarm that had gone off reconnected battery and car automatically locked itself. Brilliant. Waited the 30 mins went through EJA procedure then resynched key to door lock opened car resynch end key to ignition ALL Sorted

l packed my 2001 Rangerover for almost a month and the battery went flat, thought of the long delays l was going to experience with the mechanics, l tried all kinds of tricks in the forum to get the motor running without luck, it was stuck at "key code lock out". tried removing battery, leaving key in ignition, opening closing windows, turning key in door lock, no response! Then l tried to reverse the codes, 1-lock once, 2-unlock 5 times, 3-lock once, 4-unlock 5 times and bingo!, the remote started sensing and the motor went roaring!
