Hi everyone, I have a Jap Import P38 1995, The radio has such a small band width that it wont pic up any radio stations in the UK.
Is there some way to change the Receiver to a uk model or is there an after market sound system that will work with the steering wheel controls with an inbuilt sat nav would be great.
Another prob I have is the trip computer, it works out milage in litres per 100km which is just a bit confusing, can it be reprogrammed?
Ill look forward to all your advise,

Paul.

i think the computer can be changed in the becm, one of the fellas on here will confirm this (or deny it) what band range is the stereo operating in?

This is one possible way to go.

Radio Band Expander - Japanese Grey Import Products - Bridgwater Electronics Somerset | Car Alarms.

The Radio Band Expander enables the original equipment radio in Japanese import cars to receive UK radio transmissions. It achieves this by shifting the UK transmission frequencies into the band that the Japanese radio will detect. For example, shifting a UK radio station that transmits at 100MHz by 16 MHz will allow the station to be received by the Japanese Radio at 84MHz.

Japanese radios have a bandwidth of 14MHz (76-90MHz) compared to the UK bandwidth of 20MHz (88-108MHz), hence a certain band of frequencies will be lost in the shifting process. For flexibility there are three variations in the Band Expander range:

BC12 - 12MHz shift allowing reception of 88-102 MHz

BC16 - 16MHz shift allowing reception of 88-90 and 92-106 MHz

BC18 - 18MHz shift allowing reception of 88-90 and 94-108 MHz
