Yep, from a legal point of view, if fitting HID lamps the vehicle must have auto leveling headlamps and headlamp washers.

the other point is the HID rertrofit bulbs may fit into the hle in the back of the old head lamp, but the buld its self is of a different construction and emmitts its light pattern differently, hence when in place the beam pattern is distroted and dazzles on comming drivers, you will have noticed this with the boy racers.

Look at a OEM fitted cars and they have a distinctive cutoff on the beam pattern, that is because the bulb, lens and reflector are all designed together.

i would not waste your money on them, it may or should fail its mot and your risk a fine or worse if stopped by police, if someone crashes comming towards you because your lights have dazzled them, you will be at fault!!

As far as i can see the only way to fit HID's on a P38 is to do a complete light upgrade form an 2002 l322 model, expensive but will work right.

me personally prefere the original lok of the P38 and i have ust bought a set of Xenon filled H4 bulbs from Halfords, they stated they are 90% brighter than standard halogen bulbs, are perfectly road leagal and am very impressed with the out come. they were £19.95each, but were on offer when i got them buy one get one free!!

I bought the same offer at Halfrauds, fitted them but they seem to have a bright blue tinge to them, even my neighbour said they looked illegal. So i checked the packaging and it does say road legal but only time will tell if i get pulled over. Now i know everyones gonna say that they wouldn't sell it if it wasn't legal but just look at them and you'll see what i mean.

If yiu bought the "EB" lights, they are completely legal. Yes they do have blueish tinge. Halfrauds do sell lights that are illegal for road use, but are marked as such. For example the 472B and 472HP.

Fookin ell Daft, yu bin there too long, yur even quotin part numbers now :hysterically_laughi:hysterically_laughi

By the way do yu get staff discount on the EB lamps? :behindsofa: I wouldnt mind a pair for the RR :D

Yeah, i noticed the blue bit on the end of the bulb, i reckon they put that on to make them look kind of like the HID bulb, but i can live with that. They are legal for road use and have the appropriate 'E' marking's, i could quote numbers but errrrrrrrrrr not got to that stage of life yet!! i don't think

ive had a bi-xenon kit fitted to me p38, had them aligned when it went for mot and it passed with no issues at all, perfect beam pattern and not had one single car flash me thinking ive got my main beam on and you can really tell the difference between normal bulbs, xenon filled ones and the proper hid xenon kit. and tbh the fuzz aint gunna think some chav boy racer is drivin a range in my opinion

Everyone is entitled to there opinion, are they bulbs that are fitted into the original headlamp units.

If you are happy and don't stopped and checked, then fair enough.

Just giving my professional legal advice, so then people know!

yup they are exactly the same fitment as the std bulbs, no modification needed to fit, all plug and play
