Anyone know if the p38 was ever fitted with a single exhaust rather than the twin for show,it seems that the single system was more efficient and was changed to reduce the noise after the classic.
Thinking of using a single system to make it simpler,

My 1995 V8 was single exhaust but had to replace with twin as unable to get Janspeed single

my 1995 4.0 se v8 has a single exhaust the only differant parts are the rear box and the previous section that i beleive goes over the axle too the center box.

Early ones had single exhaust, diesel and petrol. Think that changed in 1997.

The brake lines are different on the twin exhaust. I'd guess it is simpler to go single than convert to twin pipe.

My daily driver (4.6 GEMS) has twin exhaust. Project autobiography (4.0) has single tailpipe. Both are 1998 GEMS and same brake line routing..

I wonder if it started with twin? Hard to say after so many owners have had a tinker.

I think the twin pipe looks more balanced but have to admit the single pipe is a lot less hassle.

Don t quote me on it ..bit has been said that single exhausts help engines make more torque...and twin ones help you pick it up n push it like a wheelbarrow :D:D...

Otto is a 97 4.0SE, he has a big bore probably stainless single pipe. I believe it is aftermarket, fitted by a previous owner.

Well from what I can see the twin pipe is for show as to run twin pipes from the engine to a single pipe and back to a twin is totally pointless,
typical LR cosmetics.
Anyone know who supplies single systems

Would have been better to run twin pipes from the engine to tailpipes, probably more expensive to replace though:rolleyes:

StainlessSteel Exhaust Systems is where I got mine. It started getting blemishes PDQ but it hasn't failed after maybe 8 years.

I think Double S do, at least they used to.
I think the brochure that was in Otto's paperwork was about 12 year old price list for them. Lasted well, I've had to patch the start of a split at the front of the middle box but otherwise it seems scruffy but solid.

Lasting well on both mine, over 10 years old on one. Some light corrosion but nothing serious.
