Hi i have spent today takeing out my engine on my ex police p38 manual 5 speed 1997 4.0 petrol i order a new clutch before hand . after i had got the engine out i noticed my clutch was not the same as order . bigger relise bearing. looking online tonight i find that the clutch in mine looks to be a diesel one. it drove ok with it. does any one know if the police fitted this as a uprated model over the petrol clutch

i have 4.0 clutch here if you want me to compare.post piccies

i noticed its not much different to tdi.only flywheel is much lighter lookin on tdi...

Found out its a heavy duty same as a diesel but a little bigger . has the thrust race on the pressure plate works the oppstate to a normal clutch so i was told hopefully right one turning up on monday.

Under the bonnet you should have a Land Rover specialist vehicles plate with a separate I.D number for the car (well mine does) might be worth contacting land rover see if they would give you a list of mods carried out for the police,
Save anymore future surprises

Thanks will try that next time. being ex police and a 5 speed manual as most were auto . found out its a bmw gear box as used in the diesel manual.
