Any good quality 10w40 oil will do the job. More important in a diesel is to change the oil and filter twice as often as recommended. There really is no need to buy expensive synthetic oils for this type of engine. But if you want to they are good. But as i say not really required. Any ATF will do the job even budget oils meet the makers specs. Changing that more often than specified also gives benifits. Clean cheap oil is far better than dirty expensive oil any day.
Gotta agree frequent oil/filter changes are a good investment, but can`t bring myself to economise on oil brand. I use a semi-synth, but can`t provide any evidence it`s actually worth it. Just gives me a `warm feeling` I s`pose!
