hi
a few days ago i had what seemed like a missfire but turns out to be a knock i topped up the oil and it went but the oil light comes on under a 1000 rpm so did an engine flush and new oil and it went again drove it today about 10 miles really bad knock again and when i did the screwdriver trick its comming from under the air intake on the top of the engine
has anyone got a clue to what this is
by the way its a 95 4l v8

could have thrown a rod (push) or broken a rocker, thay are your best options but it sounds like its time to start stripping it down starting at the top!

Maybe a good used engine is your way forward, if such a thing exhists for a P38 lol.

sounds like you have either a slipped cam bearing worn rocker arm worn big or little end or failing followers either way it is a strip and inspect would also advise a new oil pump too
