Hi, I thought I would post two pictures of the cone valves in the eas system...
One is from my 83k 4.6 and the other is my 186k 4.0.
Im refurbing them both at the same time and you can see how they wear out.
Is anybody making new ones yet ???

Easy enough to knock some up out of Dural if you have or know someone with a lathe. A CNC shop could knock them out for pennies. Surprised nobodies done it.

Wow. Just wow.
I shall refrain from further comment; I've shot my mouth off enough today already.

I've not dismantled one of these things - but correct me if I'm wrong here.
It looks to me like the conical element is just a leader that aligns the O ring in the receptacle - is that correct?

the cone is just a lead in. If they are not too bad they can be skimmed in a lath, but as Wammers said, new would be better.

So, worn cone, possible bad seating in receptacle then, slow leaks, head scratching , !?

So if the cones are worn, they must have worn against something, yes?
Does that take damage too - I assume it must?

Yes the hole they locate in can become oval. That is why with worn locating cones and an oval seat, soft red O'rings supplied by some vendors tend to fail quicker than their harder black counterparts. Ok everywhere else just not on the NRVs.

My wife has this. :p

I can feel a refurb in this area coming on (not the wife, the valve block & drivers) when Datatek has finished his driver thingy.

Try an ham shank and pull the bone out. That may solve one of your problems. :D:D:D
