My P38DES usually runs a little cold, only just above the 'Blue'. That changes in traffic when it usually runs hot.
The other day i was driving along at about 50MPH and noticed the temperature gage starting to move to 'red' quite quickly. This never normally happens while driving at 50MPH. In a matter of Mins the temp warning light came on and i stopped immediately.
Upon inspection i noticed that all the rubber pipes were still fitted correctly but a metal pipe, about 4 inches long and about inch and a half diameter had popped out of the front left hand side of the cylinder head. this had caused the coolant leek.
It has been in the garage now for 2 days and the mechanic can not find the part in question. he has spoken to LR and they do not seem to sell the part separate, it comes with a new head, v expensive!
Does anyone have ant info on this? The part in question is about 4 inches long and about inch and a half diameter had popped out of the front left hand side of the cylinder head. It does not screw into the head it seems to be held in place by friction?
Also why might this have popped off rather than a rubber hose? I'm almost stuck with what to do.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks
