What protocol does this use? ISO9141?

It uses Land rovers. OBD won't work on it.

Only the connector is OBD on a P38.

I did of course mean Land rovers protocols Keith. They do have a OBD connector but you and i know normal international (supposed to be) standards don't work on the P38 even more so on the diesel..

I was hoping someone would have details. I'm making a telematics box, and it works on everything else, KWP, CAN 11 bit, CAN 29 bit, but I'm not sure it's worth the effort just for this one vehicle..

Have a look at RSW solutions and see the effort that Storey Wilson put into this sort of work and how far he's got.
