Hi,The workshop manual states that you should check for water in the diesel fuel filter and drain it out. Has anyone ever done this and found water in the fuel filter? I.e. is this necessary? If it is, how do you do it? There is a plastic cap on the bottom of the fuel filter but I haven't worked out what to do with it. Do you just prise it off? Doesn't all the fuel just drain out? Thanks for any help.M

just unscrew the plastic cap until liquid starts to run out, rub it between yer fingers and you will be able to tell if its diesel or water. i find it easier just to replace the filter every few months, they are only about a fiver and its a 10 minute job ;)

Hi, I did mine a while back, not sure there was any water in it though. The plastic cap unscrews , you don't need to turn it very far to allow the water/diesel to drain out. If it hasn't been changed recently you should really put a new filter in. Best do either of these things when the engine is cold so that the fuel tank electric pump reprimes the system for you when the glow plug circuit is on. Hope this helps.

Hi,
Thanks for the replies. I might have know it was straightforward. Its just that when I replaced the filter (first one I'd done) I tried twisting the plastic cap but it didn't want to move - that's my excuse for appearing incompetent!
