Can anyone shed some light? I have a P38 2.5 diesel and i am have a problem i think its the clutch but not sure when i drive the vehicle it drives in 1st and 2nd fine but when i put it in 3rd just when the turbo kicks in the clutch is slipping! But I was towing a car on a trailer about 2 ton load up a steep hill in 1st and it never slipped once so I am puzzled. If it is a clutch has any one done one and is it not to bad to do? Will i have to do it on a ramp.? Cheers.

if its slips it needs changing asap 1st is alot lower geared than 3rd,can be done by jacking front rear drivers side up and lifting gearbox/t/box through tunnel after removing consol not too bad a job as bell housing splits in two

Its possible to support the vehicle on 4 car ramps, remove/replace the gearbox/transferbox on a trolley jack you have to be careful. If you replace the clutch make sure you replace the clutch fork cross-shaft roll pins.

spirral pins roll pins wont last long

Why not???

Most diy/home mechanics don't know the difference, a roll pin is a generic description, but considering the 2 roll/spiral pins only cost 3 quid from the mainstealers theres no point in not fitting OEM parts.

I was only advising Punk as there nothing like doing the job properly in the first place for the sake of a few quid.
