Hi all, just joined and bought my first Range Rover, a 2001 P38 4.0 "Cairngorm". First question of many no doubt is what does the "Cairngorm" model name mean. I can find no info at all. Secondly I would like an original sales brochure for this model year and have had no luck. Any ideas? Thanks very much for any help and speak to you later. P.S. i'm in Glasgow. Cheers, Pete.

Hi, thanks for the reply. However my car is 2 tone metallic blue.

There isnt an official special edition called "Cairngorm", so as Sirus says it could be a dealer/specialist special model whereby they have modified it like Overfinch do.

There is however, a Cairns Blue.....but thats not Cairngorm.

Is it not just called cairngorm after the range of mountains in Scotland. A bit like a friend of mine has a discovery called Serengeti.

hey i just came across this thread looking to find out what exactly a defender "Cairngorm" edition was and i have a thought.

Gorm means blue in Irish, so id say gorm means blue in scots gaelic too.

nothing special on the defender i was looking at so i think maybe its just a special color?

Looks nice
A rare car!

You never know in 30 years she may actually be worth a few of your Scottish pound notes?
Or Euros if Alex I'm a nutter Salmond gets his way!
Lol

Oops. Think I must have found this by mistakenly clicking on the ramdom links at the bottom of the page while being in "introduce yerself".

With it being a P38 the big question is... has he fixed all the faults yet and is that for the second time? :p

8 years from last post, 12 years since op was here.

Seems like Cairngorm gets bulk of LRs to his/her spec available as standard and calls it their edition. Don’t see anything ‘custom’ about it.

They was only available in Scotland dealerships, they did do Freelanders too and came with a Cairngorm badge apparently

Their is no mention of a P38 cairngorm

there was a run out model specifically for scotland called the Braemar

There was a RRC body colour known as Cairngorm Brown IIRC

I could list all the special editions if ya like!!
