My battery has started to discharge in 2 days, I dont really know where to start. I dont tend to lock it as its garaged , does this keep it more awake ?.Where do I start with regards to finding the problem? Any guides maybe ?
 
Alternator charging yes, Battery came with car, how would I check it? I dont have a battery tester,but I have a multimeter if thats of use. r/f receiver I do not know ,car is 4 litre 2001 countryman if that helps.
 
Take the battery off, fully charge it an leave it to stand for a couple of days, see if it loses on it's own. Or get a shunt across it to test it's condition. When you have eliminated that then start looking at the car. Cooler weather finds out weak batteries like there is no tomorrow.

Take it to Halfrauds they will shut test it for nowt. Be careful though if it's duff they will want to sell you one of their crap batteries at a ridiculous price. Resit this like you would a gay weekend. Or alternatively find a battery retailer to do the shunt for you.

Maybe a daft question but is it ok to just remove the battery ? Will I have issues when I refit it or do I need to keep another on it.
I dont think it down to the weather as the garage is very warm.
With regards to question about rf receiver..is this the remote ? I am using the 2nd remote as the main one is not working as was when I bought the car. The fault list is building at a rather fast rate lol. I still like the old thing tho. .

I had my van battery tested a few weeks back due to it smelling sulphury (its under seat) garage said yes batteries fecked...bought new one 90 odd quid,2 days later van breaks down,voltage regulator knackered. Battery was and still is fine.It was tested with a fancy snap on unit which lied.
 
if you disconnect positive lead from battery and use a multimeter or a 12volt bulb between the pos lead end and the pos battey pole, if there is a reading or the bulb lights something is draining your battery, to check withdraw all the fuses one at a time and this should show what is taking power. i have just bought a rangie and found the central locking draining the battery

Disconnect battery as per RAVE and you should have no problems. Slacken negative terminal but don't remove it. Switch ignition on and off take keys out keep them in your hand, then remove terminal within 17 seconds of switching off. (Before alarm sets). Leave car unlocked if it's in garage. When you reconnect fit positive first then negative. Have drivers door open when you do this. DO NOT reconnect battery with doors shut and keys in car. DO NOT open door with key if it was locked with fob. Other than that you will possibly be ok and have no problems.
 
Is the alternator charging? how good is the battery? What r/f receiver have you got? that's for starters

The RF receiver us under the parcel shelf in the back, RHS. It should have a green dot on it and 2 circuits boards inside at right angles to each other. Anything else is probably a problem. Someone posted a fix using a second cheap blipper.

Sulphur smell under seat, you sure it was your battery?:D:D
 
First easy check is to measure the battery voltage with the engine at 2K rpm, should be around 14.2 volts. Less than that and the battery will never fully charge.
If the battery is OK, rapid discharge is most often caused by the RF receiver, disconnect the blue aerial lead and see if it helps. You can check if the BECM is going to sleep, I think there is a guide in the "How To" section. The other common cause of battery discharge is a duff alternator.
