Hi all,

Hope someone might be able to help me. I have a 97 P38 4.6 HSE. Air suspension has been normally well behaved over the years. Had compressor and Valve block replaced couple of years back.

At the mo the compressor is running more than it should do. New compressor. Car will sit when idling but compressor will run, car will raise at front a small amount with 5 clicks. Compressor will stop, car will give 5 clicks lower itself again so it is constantly minutley altering its height when sitting still.

Have been advised that this sounds like a height sensor issue? Would anyone here have any experience / thoughts on the matter? Also sometimes car will be slightly lower than i left it other times it will not loose any height what so ever. Garage advises no leaks and no fault codes... confused.

If your garage is correct about the lack of air leaks then it is most likely worn height sensors.Check them with the ignition off, connect a multimeter to the sensor and move the,(disconnected) arm slowly through its arc.Any jumps in its resistance value show wear - you are looking for a smooth transistion.Worn sensors show the same value in more than one place - esp in the area where the arm normally sits.

Ah, thanks for that. Will have to find someone local to help me with that as not experienced with that sort of thing at all alas. Would you happen to know anyone around glos or wilts such as a good independant?
