Had to go pick my daughter up tonight, and as it was a run where there were mixed sections of mountain roads, dual carriageway and standard roads, I had a play with the computer.
I had a rough idea of expected MPG, usually around 27, however on a stretch where I was cruising along in a line of traffic for a while at 50 mph, the average MPG got up to 45!!
I tried it at 70mph (23mpg), and 60mph (26mpg), and I have to say I was expecting the results to be worse, always thought they drank fuel, but it looks like so long as I'm not trying to race everywhere its quite good.

Whats the consensus on this, are all Range Rovers good on fuel, or did I do something sensible for once when I picked the 2.5 specifically because it would use less?

I get 23mpg but then I'm mainly going round the M25 in heavy traffic. Popping to the shops absolutely kills it though.

With the price of oil set to rise,, I'm looking at more econmical road tyres for the sumer plus a gearbox oil change. Also need to cear out intercooler. In tbe word of the supermarket 'every little helps'

If you bumble along between 50 and 60 mph you can get 600 miles out of the manual diesel. Stop- start kills it fast though!

Bloodyhell I'm getting 22mpg out of my v8 why oh why did you get an oil burner??????:p:p:p
My 2001 4.0 V8 does 17-18 pottering about locally and 21.5 on a run recently, averaging 74mph door to door from Carlisle to Wrexham. We only do 6500-7000 miles a year, so I can live with that fuel consumption for the pure joy of listening to the V8 through it's new stainless exhaust system, tailor-made by Alunox.
