Well been driving the p38 round for the best part of 6 months in auto-auto mode and really need to get it sorted, because I've had enough of the P38 and want to get shot of it!

After taking it to local 4x4 fixer, to get the transfer case problem we had sorted, it developed a "gearbox fault" after being put on the diagnostic machine. When I put it in drive, nothing happens except once it gets to certain level of revs I get the error message. Then it will put away but has no power.

However, if I stick it in 1 and pull away, as soon as I am over about 1500 revs, I can stick it in D and it drives normally (until I have to stop at lights etc when I need to pull away in 1 again). Diesal consumption is rubbish driving like this.

Put in a replacement Auto-box ECU (from ebay) which did not fix, and other half is today going to have a look at the selector on the top of the autobox and clean up connections etc.

Guys at a RR place in Worcester have suggested that if this does not fix, then it could be "anything!", and I should get a T4 diagnostic done. So to the real point of the post:

1. can anyone suggest anything else we might look at ourselves
2. anyone know of anywhere in the Forest of Dean/Monmouth area who will perform a cheap (money is a bit tight) T4 diagnostic.

Cheers
Angela

Sounds the sort of problem that the guys at Ashcroft Transmissions should be able to give you a view on - if you look at the FAQ's on their site, under auto transmissions it mentions what sound like the same problem.

Good luck. Nick.

Thanks Nick, certainly looks like the same thing. I've dropped the guys at Ashcroft an email to confirm, but probably not a cheap fix!
